"On Tyranny" by: Timothy Snyder

Recommended Age : 16+ (to be able to understand political contexts)  128 pages Description :   The Founding Fathers tried to protect us from the threat they knew, the tyranny that overcame ancient democracy. Today, our political order faces new threats, not unlike the totalitarianism of the twentieth century. We are no wiser than the Europeans who saw democracy yield to fascism, Nazism, or communism. Our one advantage is that we might learn from their experience. On Tyranny is a call to arms and a guide to resistance, with invaluable ideas for how we can preserve our freedoms in the uncertain years to come.     My Rating: 3/5     This book had a lot of good information, but not all of the tips were very practical. (-1 star) Notable Quotes: “We do not see the minds that we harm when we publish falsehoods, but that doesn’t mean we do not harm” (pg. 79). Things to be aware of in “On Tyranny” Language: - 1 “sh*thouse” (in a quote) Romantic Content: ...

“The Telling” by: Beverly Lewis

This is the 3rd book in the  Seasons of Grace  series by Beverly Lewis. The first book in the series has been reviewed here:  https://kbook-reviews.blogspot.com/2025/11/the-secret-by-beverly-lewis.html Recommended Age : 14+ (not due to negative content but merely for comprehension of difficult topics) 336 pages Description:  Lettie Byler continues her private quest to find the missing piece of her life. As clues take her from state to state, Lettie is increasingly torn between the family she has left behind and the yearning for her long-lost child. My Rating: 4/5 I think this book was my favorite in the series. I still think the trilogy was unnecessary (it could have been just one book … maybe two -0.5 stars ). Nevertheless, the culmination of the overarching storyline was really sweet! I will admit, this book was very predictable (which unfortunately lost some of the overall excitement -0.5 stars ) but the story was cute nonetheless. Things to be aware of in “The Te...
